Brief Description of Research Interest :
|
Ravi Ramesh Pathak completed his Ph.D in Plant Molecular Biology from G.G.S. Indraprastha University in New Delhi, India where he worked extensively on High Density Whole Genome Microarray and Bioinformatics. He is currently a post-doctoral fellow at the Department of Pathology and Cell Biology at the College of Medicine in the University ofSouth Florida and also serves as the President of the USF Post-Doctoral Association His research at USF focuses on understanding the feed-back and cross-regulatory signaling loops in molecularly defined mouse models of lung cancer associated with hyper-activatedPI3K/mTOR, AMPK/TSC/mTOR and KRAS-pathway using novel selective inhibitors of AMPK, AKT, PI3K, mTOR and pan-RAF to reduce tumor growth, cause apoptosis and inhibit EMT. Using a combination of high throughput genomic, proteomic and bioinformatics approach; his work aims at using mouse models to validate safer and effective targeted therapies that could assist in developing clinical trials in lung cancer patients.
He has published 20 peer-reviewed works including research papers, book chapters and abstracts, presented at prestigious national and international conferences. He has authored a book on biotechnology, which is currently prescribed as reference manual in many universities in India and abroad. Dr.Pathak also holds a Diploma in Business Administration from Symbiosis Institute, Pune, India and is a Certificate Holder in Intellectual Property Rights. Beside his passion for research, Dr. Pathak has varied interests thatinclude work as a Freelance Journalist for leading newspapers in India including the Hindustan Times. He was among the top 50 finalists for the prestigious CNN International Young Journalist Award. Dr. Pathak has also served on the Editorial Board of an international plant science journal in addition to being a reviewer for multiple science journals.
