Brief Description of Research Interest :
|
My research interests include interaction and ecology of the intestinal microbial communities. I have been involved in :
1. NIH-funded ERIN study that was focused on patients with enteric infections
2. USDA-funded NIFA study on cattle that are reservoir for shiga-toxin producing E. coli (STEC)
3. Market age Broilers that were fed antibiotics. These studies made use of the 16S rRNA gene sequencing as well as whole genome shotgun sequencing.
Further, my research interests include characterizing microbes especially bacteria by conducting whole genome sequencing and comparative genomics for genome-wide variation. Specifically focusing on food-borne pathogens STEC, Salmonella, Campylobacter and invasive neonate pathogen Group B Streptococcus
